Maximize Your Conversion Rates with FlexiFunnels’ Split Testing: A Step-by-Step Guide to Setting Up Your Split Testing Campaign

Modified on Fri, 17 Jul at 1:53 AM

Overview

Split Testing lets you show multiple versions of a page to visitors and compare their performance. FlexiFunnels distributes traffic between a control page and its variations, helping you identify which version produces better results for your selected goal.

Use Split Testing to compare page designs, headlines, images, offers, form layouts, and calls to action. After reviewing the performance data, you can manually select the winning variation.

Before You Begin

  • Sign in to your FlexiFunnels account.
  • Prepare a control page and one or more page variations.
  • Decide what you want to test, such as a headline, CTA, offer, image, or page layout.
  • Keep the domain and slug unchanged while the split test is running.

Video Tutorial

Step 1: Open the Split Test Feature

Log in to FlexiFunnels. Open the Apps Section, then choose Split Test from the menu.

Step 2: Create a Split Test Campaign

Select Create a Split Test Campaign. Enter a campaign name, select the project or funnel where the test will run, and choose the control page. The control page is the original version against which you compare other variations.

Step 3: Add Page Variations

Select Add Variation to add alternative versions of the control page. Edit each variation to test a specific change, such as the headline, images, offer, form, or CTA.

Recommendation: Change one primary element per variation whenever possible so that the performance difference is easier to interpret.

Step 4: Configure Traffic Distribution

By default, FlexiFunnels distributes traffic evenly across the control page and all variations. You can keep equal distribution or set a custom traffic percentage for each variation.

Step 5: Configure Winner Selection

Use the Manual winner selection option to decide when to declare a winning page based on the campaign performance data. FlexiFunnels applies a high-performance tag to the variation that performs best.

  • When you manually select a winner, the winner page URL is changed to the control page URL.
  • Save the campaign before reviewing other pages in the winner selection area.

Step 6: Start the Split Test

Review the control page, variations, traffic allocation, and winner selection settings. When the configuration is correct, select Start Split Test to launch the campaign.

Step 7: Monitor Results and Select a Winner

Monitor the performance of each variation while the campaign is running. Review metrics such as conversion rates, leads, and sales. When the results provide sufficient confidence, manually declare the winning variation.

After a winner is declared, FlexiFunnels directs traffic to the selected winning variation. Use the outcome to make further improvements to your funnel.

Verify the Configuration

Open the split-test URL in an incognito window, a normal browser window, Safari, and a mobile browser. Confirm that different page variations are displayed according to the configured traffic allocation.

Common Scenarios

  • Landing page design: Compare a minimal layout with a more detailed layout to identify which page generates more conversions.
  • CTA testing: Compare different call-to-action wording to identify the version that generates more clicks or conversions.
  • Lead magnets: Compare landing pages promoting different assets, such as an eBook and a webinar.
  • Offer presentation: Compare different offer copy, pricing displays, or product visuals.

Best Practices

  • Test one primary change at a time.
  • Use a descriptive campaign name.
  • Start with equal traffic distribution when comparing variations fairly.
  • Allow enough traffic to reach the page before selecting a winner.
  • Use relevant performance metrics for the campaign objective.
  • Keep the control page unchanged while the campaign is running.
  • Document the tested hypothesis and result for future optimization.

Before Contacting Support

  • Confirm that the split test campaign is saved and started.
  • Verify that the control page and variations are assigned correctly.
  • Check that traffic percentages are configured as intended.
  • Test the campaign URL in an incognito window and on another browser or device.
  • Confirm that the domain and slug have not changed during the campaign.
  • Review the selected winner and campaign performance data.

Expected Outcome

After the campaign starts, FlexiFunnels distributes visitors between the control page and its variations according to the configured traffic allocation. You can review performance data, select the winning variation manually, and direct future traffic to that page.

Important: Domain and Slug Changes

Changing the domain or slug of a running split-test campaign can disrupt tracking, links, and analytics. If a change is necessary, configure the split-test campaign again and set up appropriate redirects to reduce data and traffic loss.
